The Clock Tower is located on the “Quai de l’Horloge” east of the Old Port. The Tower, also known as the Sailors’ Memorial Clock, was built in 1922 in memory of all the Canadian soldiers that passed away in the First World War. Originally, the clocks were going to be attached to 5 bells that would ring every hour. Sadly, the plans to build the carillon were never executed.

The clock tower was built by the company Gillett & Johnston in Croydon, England. The mechanism of the tower is similar to the one in the Big Ben. It took 3 years to complete the 45 metre high tower, with 192 steps to climb to the top to see the view.

New in 2012, the Clock Tower urban beach. Unlike normal beaches, you can't swim at the urban beach. The water's currents are too strong for swimming, which is why they equipped the beach with misting stations to cool down. The beach is a nice place for relaxing, with long chairs and parasols that are already installed in the sand. They have a bar located on site, where they serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and offer a variety of snacks. There's also a boardwalk that goes around the beach, so you have easy access everywhere.

THE CLOCK TOWER BEACH IS A SUMMER ACTIVITY - IT IS NOW CLOSED

The schedule for the 2013 season is not released yet - will update as soon as possible
